Sic Pilot is inspired by my ambiguous national identity. While composing the sounds for this album, I asked myself, "What does it mean to be a gay Mexican-American in the U.S. today?" Answers to this question ranged from deeply personal issues of homophobia I've encountered to more nationalistic concerns. I combine spoken word and electronic sounds throughout the music by quoting works by Shakespeare, Langston Hughes, Billie Holiday, recent news stories, and social media rants.

In the end, I unpack issues of race, sexual identity, and national identity while still poking fun at myself. I hope you enjoy my debut album, Sic Pilot!
